Tuesday, Jan. 2nd - Ice Skating at Evergreen Lake
PACKING LIST:
Absolutely no cotton layers or accessories
Cotton retains moisture from snow and sweat, which can become a significant hypothermia risk
Medium/Large size backpack (all clothes and gear should fit inside the pack.)
3 water bottles (60 oz. minimum) - Clients are expected to bring more than they will need/use; materials can be used for cooking cocoas/teas, supporting peers who run out, warming up water bottles to use as ‘heaters’ if cold, etc.
Snacks (easy, quick foods)
Lunch (warm soup/chili in thermos recommended)
Synthetic base layers/long underwear
Wool/synthetic winter socks (pack one extra pair)
Winter hiking pants or snow pants (water/wind resistant)
Fleece jacket/sweatshirt and/or puffy jacket
Winter/snow jacket (water/wind resistant)
Winter hat and gloves (waterproof snow gloves)
Sturdy winter hiking boots (up to calf—to keep snow out, good tread, waterproof, no sneakers)
Buff/scarf/balaclava
Sunglasses
Sunblock & lip balm (best to pre-apply)
