Experience the sustainable outcomes your child deserves, and you expect.

Expanding the continuum of care between traditional outpatient therapy and out of home wilderness or residential treatment

Welcome to Equinox Counseling and Wellness Center, a place where genuine partnerships form to help your child and family learn, grow, and heal together. We want you to know that by being here and reading this you are taking an important step in helping your child. Having a child with complex mental health issues in combination with emotional and behavioral problems can present many challenges, create turmoil within your whole family, and cause pain, sadness, frustration, and feelings of helplessness—and at times even hopelessness. We want you to know that here at Equinox, there is hope and families do heal.

"The support system is amazing. Equinox comes with a lot of support from every angle.  They are there when you need them."

Who We Work With

At Equinox Counseling & Wellness Center we understand that for the young people we serve, mental, emotional, and behavioral health issues often stem from challenges that emerged in childhood. These problems were easily misunderstood and under addressed. We believe the healing of these issues occurs through healthy relationship, connection, and experience. We developed our treatment environment, the synergy and coordination of our components of care, in combination with purposeful treatment plans to allow healing and lasting change. Parents turn to us when other therapy or treatment settings have not yielded positive results.

What We Treat

While we see the young people in our program for who they are, great kids and young adults, verses a diagnosis in which they have been labeled, we also recognize the importance of providing a list of common diagnosis and challenges the young people in our program experience. Our youth and young adults often experience the complexity of having a combination of these diagnosis, verses one or two in isolation.

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Suicidality
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Trauma
  • Attachment Issues
  • ADD / ADHD
  • Chronic Family Distress
  • Executive Functioning Challenges
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Technology Addiction
  • Social Isolation
  • Addictive Behaviors
  • Disordered Eating

Mental Wellness

There are risks involved in a young person forming an identity that centers around mental illness.   Our program focuses on the development of mental wellness.  We work to ensure that each young person is surrounded by a peer group that is engaged in processes to be able to think, feel and act in ways that creates a positive impact on their emotional, physical, and social well-being.  Young people in our programs realize their capabilities and learn to cope with everyday life stressors in healthy, safe ways.

Environment Matters

Our specialized treatment environment is kind, calm, and compassionate with components of care that develops resilience, positive self-identity, competencies for overall health, and pro-social connections.  We utilize experiential and action- oriented methods because traditional talk therapy has proven to be ineffective.  Because your goals are our goals, we use real life environments to ensure functioning in all aspects of our youth or young adult’s lives, not just in contained environments.

How We Are Different

To achieve results that last, our treatment model focuses on three goals...

1

Generalization

As our patients stabilize and learn new skills, we provide consistent and thoughtfully organized opportunities to apply and practice these skills. This ensures that what occurs in therapy and is learned in various treatment situations and settings, extends into the home environment, parental and family relationships, school and social settings as well as the community.

2

Integration

Since life is not lived in a controlled environment, everything about our treatment process and clinical program environment is designed to help youth and young adults understand, synthesize, and access new competencies from the ‘inside out’. This ensures they are ready to manage life’s challenges, unpredictable triggers, and effectively cope when distressed.
3

Sustainability

Sustaining progress is what every parent wants to feel assured of. To help our patients sustain progress, purpose, and healthy functioning, they engage in a comprehensive treatment process that methodically sequences their learning, prioritizes correct repetition through action-based learning (versus solely utilizing “talk therapy”) and integrates family level growth.

Support for the Whole Family

To foster family-level healing, we surround your entire family in layers of support. It's always a surprise to our new parents, so you'll have to experience it to believe it!

Learn What Your Kid's Learning

You'll learn the same concepts as your kid, but from a parental leadership lens that helps you maintain continuity at home while asserting your family values.

"We've been in the program for just over 90 days, and I can’t say everything has changed, but I can say our lives are changing for the better. I can’t say that everything is resolved, perfect and simple... it isn’t. But I can say there is less chaos, drama and frustration and more laughter, confidence and engagement. We have support and resources available to us that genuinely help when we are struggling and have kept us from feeling alone and like failures, feelings that dominated my emotions before EQ. Our entire family is changing in ways that were not even imaginable to me 90 days ago."
